Background Information

Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires many additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental and medical school. As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Gilardetti manages a wide variety of problems relating to the oral cavity, teeth, and facial regions. Dr. Gilardetti practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from dental implant surgery and third molar (wisdom tooth) removal to corrective jaw surgery and facial fracture repair. This also includes techniques designed to restore bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. Our office can also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries, and cutaneous or mucosal pathology. Additional information regarding the training and scope of the specialty is available through the public web site of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS).
