Meet Robert S. Gilardetti, D.M.D., M.D.

Dr. Gilardetti completed his premedical and biological sciences requirements at Boston University in 1988. In 1992, he graduated with highest honors from Boston University’s School of Graduate Dentistry. As a dental student, his research about the utilization of growth factors to stimulate bone regeneration lead to presentations, publication and an offer of a Master of Science degree.  After receiving his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1995, he completed his general surgery training requirements & residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery, at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Dr. Gilardetti has been the recipient of outstanding training and he has varied clinical and academic interests. Rotations at Boston Children’s Hospital, Shriners Burn Center, and the busy MGH trauma service have helped him develop expertise in the areas of correction of facial deformities, acute trauma management and pediatric oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Gilardetti is currently licensed to practice in Rhode Island & Massachusetts. Dr. Gilardetti continues to teach OMS surgery residents through his academic appointment as a clinical instructor at the Massachusetts General Hospital and also serves as a clinical instructor at the Franciscan Hospital for Children through an appointment at Boston University School of Dental Medicine. He is also on the staff of the Newton-Wellesley Hospital, The  Massachusetts Hospital School and  South County Hospital. He believes strongly in contributing to charitable endeavors and is an active participant in the Rhode Island Donated Dental Services Program, and also regularly donates hospital surgical care for differently-abled children.
